Hey there — I'm Jennifer.
I'd like to virtually introduce myself. I'm the owner and Executive Pastry Chef here at Sweet Elevation Bakery, and I'm super excited to bring a fun, new, sweet bakery to the Capital District. Along with my amazing partner in crime Carl, and our combined, crazy family of five teenagers, we are proud to entwine our appreciation of the city with our love of the mountains by opening this truly unique bakery.
Why a mountain theme in Latham, NY?
You're probably wondering — why the heck did we name our bakery with a mountain theme in Latham, NY? Well, I'm from a little town in the Adirondacks called Wilmington, NY. You may know it more as the home of Whiteface Mountain.
I was born and raised in the ADKs. My family is still there, along with friends, business colleagues, and customers. We visit often, and the mountains will always be "home."
From Cake Placid to here.
Back in the day, you might remember a bakery called Cake Placid. If you visited the Lake Placid area, you may have indulged a time or two. That bakery was created by yours truly — but was later sold and unfortunately, eventually, closed for good.
I sold the bakery years ago because frankly, I was stressed. Touristy towns are hard, not going to lie. I worked myself into burn-out mode. I had two toddlers at the time, and well, they just needed a way-less-stressed-out mama.
What's new at Sweet Elevation.
While using many of the popular recipes and creations I worked on for Cake Placid — the ones I developed while rocking babies to sleep and staying up late making messes in my tiny kitchen — you'll also find so many new additions at Sweet Elevation Bakery.
Carl, myself, and our kiddos are super excited to share our dream of owning a new bakery in the Capital District with all of you for many years to come.
Make an appointment for a consultation, stop in to see our space, or go online and place your order easily with our new ordering system. We make it simple for you here at Sweet Elevation Bakery.
